Raffles
I met up with Luke and Kate and we went for dinner in one of the shopping mall plazas. Food here is stupidly cheap. I had Duck with Rice and a couple of other bits for about 1 Pound 20!!!
We went to see one of the Chinese shows at the Harbour, then went on to meet Sky, a game old bird I'd met earlier today while out wandering. We all went to Raffles Bar for a Singapore Sling...
Luke who claims to be a bit handy with a camera took this stonker of me looking really debonair.... (actually to be fair, we'd all been out walking that day so were still in scruffy backpacker mode so I'll let him off)
We were then told that, lovely as it was sitting under the palm trees in the hotel grounds, the famous bar is actually 'The Long Bar' upstairs. So we went up there instead....
And just had to have another as we were now truly in Raffles. (Which actually didnt work out too cheap at 16 Dollars a go! -life really is a bitch)
Raffles is the only place in Singapore where you are allowed to drop litter without having to pay a 500 Dollar fine. (Other 500 Dollar fines include getting caught with chewing gum and crossing the road within 50m of a crossing) Im crapping myself incase I inadvertantly break a law they have and get a huge fine. (Though crapping then not flushing the toilet is a 500 Dollar fine also) Anyway. Raffles staff dump loads of Peanuts on the table every 10 minutes or so then you open them and just throw the shells on the floor.
Just for a giggle tomorrow. I'm gonna go out chewing gum, cross within 50m of a crossing and drop a peanut shell on the floor all at once. Its just the kinda crazy on the edge guy I am...
