DAY 6
To be fair, Japan was always going to be about culture (Coa-Cha) rather than partying, but I was still really embarrassed the other night. Id come in from a big ol' day of walking round Japan. Had some dinner then came down to write some emails/update the site then go to bed. Most people do the same thing.
They sell beer and cigarettes in vending machines over here, so most people just have a quick bevy and go to bed. There are no bars or 'nightspots' nearby. Not being a beer drinker as you well know, I just sit and chat. Have some green tea.
There was a Spanish bloke here called Huan, who when he saw I didnt have a drink said "not here but up in your room? You have Vodka there? Not at all? And you're English?" I felt terrible. I feel like I've let everyone down. As such, today, ive blown out my sightseeing plans (which would involve walking round Tokyo for hours) in favour of going out tonight and getting plastered on Sake and finding a Karaoke Bar.
Its Japan. It'd be a crime not to.
One slight snag is I have to be up at 7 tomorrow morning to catch my flight out to Singapore. Im sure it'll all end in tears but it'll make a good story one day.
See you in Singapore,
Uncle Travelling Matt
