DAY 5

After Shinjuku, we went to Suidobashi which has a huge indoor baseball stadium called The 'Big Egg City' Tokyo Dome. Most of the stuff around it looked closed and the only tours in the staduium were in Japanese, so we headed back down the street to 'Mister Donut' for some Homer J Simpson inspired grub.

When we'd had enough of free coffee refills (unfortunatly they didn't do free donut refills) we headed out to the Tokyo National Museum at Ueno Park.

Tokyo National Museum

There was an impressive collection of early swords and samurai armor dating back to the 7th century and various decorartive Kana (Japanese writing) and buddha statues.

old swords

There were also 12 10th Century animal based 'Heavenly Generals,' These two are the Monkey and Rooster Generals. Is it me or are they just a bit camp for war-mongering?

Dont fuck with him, he's Camp

Heres a pic of a 5 storey pagoda I managed to miss entirely last time I walked through the park...

Pagoda in the sunset, Nice.

We had a wander through the Tokyo international Forum (below) and then had some dinner at 'The Football Cafe' which was pretty cool. All nice lighting and Plasma screens.

Looks a bit like a big ship shape

Luke and Kate are heading off to Singapore tomorrow so I'll hopefully meet up with them again when I get there.
