Arrival

I'm here, I'm living in a mezzanine bunk room above the hanger and I'm swinging between scared and buzzing!

Its been grey today so everyone is walking around bored or playing pool.

I've got my AFF (Accelerated Freefall) course book and I've read through that. Its full of procedures of 'what to do if 'x' goes wrong.' Its like when I did my PADI when they tell you every possible thing that could go wrong, so if it does, you can deal with it. You either accept what you're doing can be dangerous and learn, or you get scared and decide never to try it.

I've signed all the waivers saying 'If anything happens we accept no responsibility, you're here at your own risk.' And I've paid my money.

All thats left now is to go to class at 8am tomorrow, then if all goes to plan, and the weather lifts I'll be jumping out of an airoplane tomorrow afternoon.

Chatting to the people here tonight its clear that everyone loves this. Its like a drug. But unlike drugs theres a very low risk factor. (If you listen to your training.) No one i've spoken to has had any problems if you go out and just be sensible about it. In fact someone has just told me that statistically accidents happen one in every 65,000 jumps per person. And that doesn't mean fatalities, that means a canopy malfunction that you learn to deal with in Training...

I'm feeling happy, confident, excited and scared, and I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow.
