Christmas Spirit at Whistler

We drove through Vancouver towards the Sea-To-Sky Highway, high up, at the top of one of the apartment blocks, someone had written 'Humbug' in brightly coloured, blinking fairy lights.

It wasn't snowing in Vancouver (it hardly ever does) but it was cold. "Not too Cold.." Darren said as he pointed to the digital read-out in his BMW X5, "..its still 1 Deg C."

Only a Canadian could get away with saying that.

Shortly later, the display went *ping* to tell us it'd dropped to 0. What a thoughtful car, its nice having friends who work at BMW. I relaxed in the warm back seats of the car as the snow started coming down.

BMW X5, looks like Knightrider in the dark.

It came down thicker and harder and an hour or so into the drive, we started seeing cars and SUVs which had skidded off the road. We realised with the weather as it was, we probably wouldn't get up there in time to hire the ski/board gear, so we figured we should stop off just after the town of Squamish, grab a takeaway and get some booze so we didn't lose any more drinking time when we get into town.

Mission Accomplished.

cheers

You could tell it was a proper snowboard dude's place as all the corridors smelt of 'Jamaican Old Holborn' (as Del Boy would call it.)

and cheers

We had a huge Christmas tree just outside our window.

Looked a bit like whoville

I can honestly say that night in Whistler was probably the most Christmassy place I've ever been!

from 'How the Grinch stole Christmas'

We would've gone and seen 'Elf' but we'd missed the start time.

We ended up in the 'Longhorn' saloon. The place to be for morning haired, scruffy looking uber-cool snow boys and girls.

Darren was telling Sarah how big his nob is. Look how impressed she is...
